Utah extended its Mountain West Conference record home winning streak to 20 games. It is the third-longest streak in the country and the second-longest in school history.
Utah scored 50 points in back-to-back games for the first time since 2004. The Utes defeated New Mexico 56-14 last week. In 2004, Utah scored 63 points against UNLV, 51 points against San Diego State and 63 points against Colorado State.
The 56-3 win was Utah's largest margin of victory since defeating UTEP 56-3 in 1997.
Utah posted a season-high 272 yards rushing.
Utah held San Jose State to 94 yards rushing. It was the third team this year that Utah has held under 100 yards rushing (Pittsburgh - 82 yards, New Mexico - 69 yards).
Utah played three quarterbacks - Jordan Wynn, Terrance Cain and Griff Robles. Wynn was 14-for-18 for 124 yards (two touchdowns) while Cain went 4-for-6 for 31 yards. Robles did not attempt a pass.
Nine players caught passes for Utah, while nine players had carries.
Reggie Dunn got his first career start. He scored his first career touchdown on a 43-yard run on Utah's first offensive play of the game.
Jereme Brooks led Utah with five catches for 44 yards.
Shawn Asiata scored his first career touchdown on a 10-yard reception in the second quarter.
Reggie Topps scored his first career touchdown on a 10-yard punt return after a botched SJSU punt.
Beau Burton scored his first career touchdown on a seven-yard rush in the fourth quarter.
Mike Honeycutt blocked a punt in the second quarter, his first career blocked punt. The last blocked punt by a Utah team was Aiona Key in the Poinsettia Bowl last season.
Dallin Rogers scored his second touchdown of the season (third of his career) in the second quarter.
Tauni Vakapuna scored his second touchdown of the year in the fourth quarter on a one-yard run.
Matt Asiata scored his second touchdown of the year in the third quarter on a one-yard run.
Eddie Wide scored his team-leading third touchdown of the season in the second quarter with an eight-yard rush. Wide led the team in rushing with 61 yards on eight carries.
Lamar Chapman led Utah in tackles for the second-straight week, tying Matt Martinez with a team-high six stops.
