2011 University of Utah Invitational Complete Results
MIDWAY, Utah - Senior Maria Grafnings placed first for the fourth consecutive race to start this season Saturday at the Soldier Hollow Resort to help the University of Utah skiing team to a second-place finish in the Utah Invitational.
Utah led the way among the six teams in the women's 15k classical event as Grafnings took first place for the fourth consecutive time in 2011 with a 54:38.0 performance, which was 2:42.5 ahead of the runner-up finisher. Marta Larsen completed Utah's presence in the top five, with a fifth-place finish at 57:20.5. Zoe Roy followed in seventh place at 57:38.4, while Sarah MacCarthy turned in an 11th-place finish at 58:44.2. Rose Kemp placed 21st at 1:01.48.3 and Parker Tyler took 25th at 1:03.01.3. Madeleine Talkington was the 30th finisher with a time of 1:06.33.9.
The Utes posted the third-highest team score in the men's 20k classical race as Miles Havlick was the team's top finisher in sixth place at 1:05.10.0. Didrik Smith took 12th place with a time of 1:07.21.5 and Rolf Figi was14th at a time of 1:07.49.2. Ian Havlick turned in a 19th-place effort at 1:09.07.6, followed by Tom Smith in 1:12.43.2.
Utah totaled 898 points through the four events of the Utah Invitational as Colorado was in first.
The Utes will have a week off before heading to Red River, N.M., for the New Mexico Invitational on Feb. 4-5.
