SALT LAKE CITY - Utah punter Sean Sellwood has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District football team, announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Sellwood, a junior exercise sport science major with a 3.78 grade point average, will be placed on the national ballot for Academic All-America honors.
Sellwood is averaging 43.9 yards on 26 punts. He has five punts of 50 yards or longer this season and 26 in his career, tying him for fourth in school history. Sellwood was named the Pac-12 Special Teams Player of the Week on Nov. 7 after averaging 50.5 yards a punt against Arizona and tying his career-long with a 67-yarder. He pinned Arizona deep in its own territory twice in the fourth quarter, when he placed two punts inside the 20-yard line. He has placed seven punts inside the 20-yard line this season.
Sellwood is also 2-of-2 in fake punt attempts this season, rushing for a first down and completing a first-down pass.
Individuals are selected through voting by CoSIDA, a 2,000-member organization consisting of sports public relations professionals for colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.
