SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah women's basketball team plays its second-straight home game against in-state rival Brigham Young on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. The game will be televised on CBS College Sports with radio at 99.1 FM.
Utah will be hosting a Wedding Expo, featuring a cake eating contest, antique cars and more. In addition, the first 150 fans will receive a free Utah arm sleeve.
The `Kids Zone' will open at 3:00 p.m. with Swoop, a face painter, balloon artist, poster-making station, free candy, and more.
The Utes will be looking to rebound from a difficult loss on Wednesday against San Diego State, 50-49. Utah held as much as a 10-point lead in the game. Two free throws in the final seconds clinched the win for SDSU.
Wednesday's loss was Utah's 14th game this season decided by 10 points or less. Utah is 6-8 in those games. The Utes are 5-5 in the Mountain West Conference with a 12-12 overall record.
"Coming off a tough loss against San Diego State, it is important for us to have a good performance," interim head coach Anthony Levrets said. "Win or lose, we need to continue to be improving. BYU is playing excellent basketball right now and we will have our hands full."
Brigham Young currently leads the conference with a 9-1 record, 17-7 overall. The Cougars are an experienced team led by seniors Mindy Bonham, Coriann Fraughton and Haley Hall.
In their first meeting this season back on Jan. 12, BYU defeated the Utes, 68-50, behind a strong second half.
The winner of Wednesday's game between BYU and Utah earns five points in the Deseret First Duel rivalry series between Utah and BYU. Saturday's men's basketball game is also worth five points.
BYU leads the Duel, 18-16 after eight events.
