SALT LAKE CITY -
Randy Lewis, a member of the University of Utah's Crimson Club Board of Directors, has been named the 2011 National Volunteer of the Year by the National Association of Athletic Development Directors (NAADD).
Lewis, a long-time Utah fan and Crimson Club member, was recognized by NAADD for volunteer projects that included: raising money to support the athletic scholarship fund through the annual membership drive; soliciting renewals from lapsed Crimson Club members; organizing a men's basketball season ticket campaign; arranging an attendance competition for women's basketball; and helping to identify donor prospects for facility and endowment donations.
"Over the years Randy has grown close to our program and has shown fantastic support for our teams," said Utah Director of Athletics Dr. Chris Hill. "Our coaches, staff and many of our students know Randy on a personal level because he is amazingly generous with his time and energy. Randy's energy and enthusiasm make him the ideal volunteer. I'm grateful for Randy's efforts and know this is a well-deserved recognition for him, the athletics department and the University."
Said Lewis, "I am incredibly honored and humbled to receive this recognition on behalf of the University of Utah, but feel this is a shared recognition with the many friends, family members and fans who give their valuable time and resources to support Utah Athletics. We volunteer our time and resources because we care about the student-athletes and want to provide an unmatched educational and athletic experience for them. Our work will continue for many years and we hope to provide even more volunteer support in the future. Go Utes!"
