SALT LAKE CITY - Utah senior outfielder Shaun Cooper has been selected as the 2011 Summer Collegiate Player of the Year by Perfect Game. He was also selected as a summer first-team All-America outfielder as well as the top rising senior.
Cooper spent his summer with the Mankato Moondogs of the Northwoods League, where he had a league-record 20 home runs, 61 RBI and had 15 stolen bases while batting .335.
Last year for the Utes, Cooper was a first-team all-Mountain West Conference selection. He finished sixth in the MWC in batting average (.332), third in slugging percentage (.589) and tied for first in triples (7).
