SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah ski team won its second straight Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Skiing Association regular-season title after winning all four meets in 2012.
In the final RMISA team standings, Utah scored 3,554 points in the four meets, an average of 888.5 per meet, and beat out Colorado (3,320) by 234 points, an average of 58.5 points per meet.
This is the first time a team has repeated as regular-season champion since 2008-09. "Our strength this season has been how well-balanced we are in all disciplines as well as having the ability to score podium results on a consistent basis," Utah Director of Skiing Kevin Sweeney said. "I commend the team and coaching staff for their thorough preparation and execution at every race. It is extremely rewarding to be working with such a dedicated team. This is truly an outstanding accomplishment for us."
Utah also won both the men's and women's titles as well as the Men's Nordic and Women's Alpine championships.
Ute skiers finished first in 12 different races this season and were on the podium a total of 37 times. Utah earned five women's Alpine victories and 14 podium finishes, while the men's Alpine squad took three men's Alpine victories and turned in six podium finishes
On the Nordic side, the Utes won two women's races and registered six podium finishes, while Utah recorded two victories in men's races and had 11 podium finishes.
The postseason begins this week in Bozeman, Mont., where both the NCAA Western Regional/RMISA Championships and NCAA Championships will be held over the next three weeks.
Two days of alpine racing that will only count toward NCAA Qualifying and not team scoring will be ran from Wednesday and Thursday at Bridger Bowl, before the NCAA Western Regional/RMISA Championships will be held Friday and Saturday.
