OC/QB Coach Johnson on Investing in Excellence
SALT LAKE CITY--
On March 27, 2012, Utah football coach Kyle Whittingham climbed aboard a piece of heavy machinery and took the first blows at the walls of his old football center. Since that day, construction on a new state-of-the-art football complex has moved full speed ahead.
Scheduled to open in the summer of 2013, the new center will provide unmatched health, performance, and nutrition services for Utah's varsity athletic teams.
While all 18 of Utah's teams will benefit from the center's sports medicine facility, cafeteria and the Alex Smith Strength and Conditioning Center (which opened in 2009), the remainder of the 120,000-square foot complex will be dedicated solely to the Utah football team and will feature locker rooms, position group meeting rooms, a player lounge, administration offices, a media/broadcast room and more.
The project is expected to cost $30 million and private donations are being solicited. Please contact Utah Athletics (801-585-3515; dknuth@huntsman.utah.edu) to learn more about the project, naming opportunities and how you can help fund this important project.
