SALT LAKE CITY - After an intense week of training in Hawaii, Utah Swimming and Diving will return to Ute Natatorium this Saturday, Oct. 11 to take on Arizona for the team's first home meet of the season and the men's first Pac-12 matchup. The meet will kick off at 11 a.m.

Scouting the Utes
After taking a year off from swimming, senior Karson Applin returns to the pool, as does Ken Tiltges following a redshirt season in 2012. The pair is joined by junior Nick Soedel and sophomores Bence Kiraly and Kristian Kron. All five men hold several top-ten Utah records and will be huge contributors to the Ute effort this season.
Last season, freshman Josiah Purss became only the second male diver in Utah history to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
Soedel and Kron also qualified for the championships. It had been over 20 years since the Utes had three representatives on the NCAA roster.
Utah men's swimming and diving adds seven to their roster, including six freshmen and one senior.
Saturday will be the first official outing for Utah women's diving, as they did not compete at Oregon State. Kersten Merry will lead the Utes diving effort, as she was the only female to compete on the boards for the Utes last season. Merry compiled an outstanding season and narrowly missed out on the NCAA Diving Championships. She was one of two athletes to be elected to an alternate position.
Match-Up History
This meet marks the first time the Utes have been pitted against the Wildcats in a dual meet since joining the Pac-12 in 2011.
Last season, the Arizona men's team took fourth in the Pac-12 while sending 17 swimmers to the NCAA Championships, as the women collected fourth in the Pac-12 and finished fifth nationally.
Next Time Out
The Utes will be in familiar waters again as Boise State's women's team and Mesa State's men's team face off at Ute Natatorium on Oct. 25. The women's meet begins at 1 p.m., while the men kick off at 2 p.m.
