ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The University of Utah's Tereza Bekerova captured her fourth consecutive singles victory at the women's tennis USTA/ITA Regional Championships to advance to the singles championship match on Sunday.
The semifinal match pitted Bekerova against New Mexico State's Ashvarya Shrivastava with Bekerova coming out on top 7-5, 6-1. The Utah senior will face Utah State's McKenzie Davis in the finals tomorrow.
Sarah Richter fell short of advancing with a loss in the quarterfinals to BYU's Mayci Jones in three sets (6-7, 6-3, 6-1).
Both remaining Utah doubles pairs dropped in the semifinals as Jones and Toby Miclat of BYU bested Bekerova and Lucia Kovarcikova (6-6, 6-1) and Colorado's Julyette Steur and Kyra Wojcik squeezed past Luisa Gerstner Da Rosa and Richter (3-6. 6-3, 13-11).
