SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah women's ski team led all Utah teams with a 3.737 grade point average for the 2014 spring semester as part of a strong academic semester for the ski team.
"Stunning academic performance from this group this semester!" Utah Director of Skiing Kevin Sweeney said. "I am continuously impressed with this squad. This certainly represents an outstanding commitment to academics, and these grades were achieved during our competition segment. Feeling very proud of this group right now!"
Four women's skiers had a GPA of 4.0 for the semester: Kristiina Rove, Lauren Samuels, Ana Kobal and Nora Eide. Overall, women's skiing has a 3.60 cume GPA.
For the men, Joergen Brath and Tim Hribar each had a 4.0 for the semester.
Utah placed 15 of its 22 athletes on the Dean's List: Eide, Chloe Fausa, Kobal, Rove, Samuels, Brath, Mark Engel, Hribar, Eian Sandvik, Andy Trow, Anna-Lena Heynen, Josefin Nilsson, Sloan Storey, Madeleine Thorn and Noé Bellet. Making the Athletic Director's Honor Roll was Jaime Dupratt, Teagen Palmer and Anna Svendsen.
The team had an overall GPA of 3.533 during the semester, and has a 3.547 cume GPA.
The Utah ski team finished fifth at the NCAA Championships in March.
