Utah scored 59 points against Fresno State, and 56 points in the opener against Idaho State. The last time Utah scored at least 50 points in back-to-back games was against San Jose State (56 points) and Iowa State (68 points) in 2010.
In the first quarter, the Utah defense held Fresno State to four total yards, including negative 10 rushing yards. The Bulldogs had no first downs in the first quarter.
Travis Wilson threw for five touchdowns, tying him for second-most all-time in a game at Utah. The last time a Utah quarterback threw for five touchdowns in a game was Brian Johnson against San Diego State in 2008. Wilson was 11-of-20 for 181 yards passing (no interceptions), while rushing 11 times for 37 yards.
Kendal Thompson entered at quarterback midway through the third quarter, and scored his first career rushing touchdown on a 14-yard run. Thompson completed his first career touchdown pass in the fourth quarter, a 45-yard TD to Andre Lewis. Thompson was 4-of-7 passing for 87 yards and rushed nine times for a team-high 71 yards.
Westlee Tonga caught his second career touchdown pass in the second quarter on a 24-yard reception.
Dres Anderson led Utah in receiving with three catches for 84 yards and two touchdowns.
Kenneth Scott (six catches, 77 yards) also caught two touchdown passes.
Andre Lewis scored his first career touchdown on a 45-yard reception in the fourth quarter. Troy McCormick also ran for his first career touchdown in the fourth quarter, a two-yard run.
Devontae Booker (10 carries, 67 yards) led the Ute running backs in rushing for the second-straight week, while Bubba Poole had 54 rushing yards on 13 carries.
Four of Tom Hackett's five punts were for 50+ yards. He downed punts at both the nine and four-yard lines.
Andy Phillips attempted and made his first field goal of the season from 47 yards in the first quarter. He is 10-of-12 in his career from 40+ yards.
Eric Rowe led Utah with 11 tackles, the sixth double-digit tackle game of his career. Clint Shepard had a team-high 2.5 tackles for loss and one sack.
Utah's 13 team tackles for loss is the most since the Utes had 14 TFL against New Mexico in 2010. Utah's seven sacks is the most since recording seven sacks against Weber State in 2013.
Nate Orchard recovered his fifth career fumble in the third quarter, which ties him for the fifth-most all-time at Utah.
Attendance of 45,864 is the sixth-largest at Utah, and the 27th-straight sellout at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
