Utah Invitational Day 1 Results 
PARK CITY, Utah - Sophomore Chloe Fausa finished second in the women's giant slalom as the Utah ski team stands second after the first day of the Utah Invitational.
Fausa was fourth after the first run and ran the fastest second run of the day to move into second place. Senior Kristiina Rove also had a top-10 finish, crossing the line sixth. Senior Ana Kobal was Utah's third scorer, finishing 12th. Sophomore Lauren Samuels finishes 13th followed by sophomore Teagen Palmer, who tied for 20th. Freshman Nora Eide did not finish her first run.
The Utes earned 84 points in the race and second behind first-place Colorado (88 points) and just ahead of third-place Denver (82 points). New Mexico (74 points) and Westminster (45 points) round out the top five followed by Montana State (42), Alaska-Anchorage (39) and Colorado Mountain College (17).
"Once again we are extremely excited about the girls performance," Utah head coach Jaka Korencan said. "It was a great team effort and we're excited to be among the leaders after the first day. It is great to see Chloe on the podium again and also have Kristiina, Ana and Lauren all in the top 13. We're looking forward to tomorrow's men's giant slalom and the rest of the weekend."
The Utah Invitational continues on Saturday, Jan. 10, with the men's giant slalom. The race is held on Payday at Park City Mountain Resort. The full schedule is below.
