SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah women's ski team led all Utah teams with a 3.702 grade point average for the 2014 fall semester as part of a strong academic semester for the ski team.
"Academics is our cornerstone," Utah Director of Skiing Kevin Sweeney said. "I am incredibly proud of our accomplishments in this arena. I am also very happy to see our athletes taking advantage of the excellent academic support programs we have on campus. I am impressed with the balance we have going now. We were on the road quite a bit with preseason training camps and competitions so these grades reflect some great study habits as well. Nice job team, and thanks to the professors who are extremely supportive of our efforts."
Three women had a 4.0 grade point average for the semester: Ana Kobal, Kristiina Rove and Lauren Samuels. In addition to Kobal, Rove and Palmer, making the Dean's List for the women was Nora Eide, Veronika Mayerhofer and Sloan Storey. All 11 members of the women's team made the Athletics Academic Honor Roll, including Chloe Fausa, Teagen Palmer, Anna-Lena Heynen and Josefin Nilsson.
The men's ski team was led by Tim Hribar's 4.0 semester grade point average. Six men's skiers made the Dean's List: Endre Bjertness, Joergen Brath, Dominick Demschar, Nick Hendrickson, Hribar and Andy Trow. Nine members of the team made the Athletics Academic Honor Roll, including Sasha Zaitsoff, Noé Bellet and Oscar Ivars.
