LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Utah volleyball team dropped its first road match of the season, falling in three sets (19-25, 16-25 ,12-25) to the Louisville Cardinals in first round action of the Louisville/Active Ankle Challenge at Cardinal Arena in Louisville, Ky., Friday evening.
Sophomore Adora Anae led the Utes (5-3) with seven kills, but her .182 hitting percentage was a team-high as the team hit for a season-low average of -.010, while the Cardinals (3-3) managed to record 20 more kills than the Utes (42 to 22) and hit .252 in the three-set sweep.
Redshirt freshman Jessie Jorgensen led the team with 11 assists and Anae tallied a team-high 15 digs, while redshirt freshman Emma Kirst tallied a team-high five total blocks on the night.
Utah registered season-lows in kills (22), hitting percentage (-.010) and assists (21) in the loss, while the Cards managed to defeat the Utes in all statistical categories on the evening.
Louisville's Maya McClendon led her squad with a match-high 12 kills and Katie George tallied a match-high 32 assists and 11 digs for a double-double.
The Cards moved to 2-1 overall against Utah and have now won the previous two meetings between the two teams.
Utah returns to action again tomorrow with an early contest against Ohio before closing out play at the Louisville Invitational against Seton Hall. First serve between the Utes and Bobcats is set for 12 p.m. ET, while the Utes and Pirates clash at 5:30 p.m. ET.
