STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. - For the second-straight season, Utah skier Veronika Mayerhofer has been named the RMISA Women's Nordic MVP.
Mayerhofer has one win and eight podium finishes in eight races this season.
Mayerhofer is the defending NCAA champion in the women's 5-km freestyle and is a two-time All-American. In 21 career races over two years, she has five career wins, 18 podium finishes and has never finished lower than fourth. Last season Mayerhofer was the United States Collegiate Ski Coaches Association Nordic Skier of the Year and the FasterSkier.com Collegiate Skier of the Year.
"Once again, Veronika has executed a consistently strong and steady season," Utah head Nordic coach Abi Holt said. "She has only finished off the podium in one race so far, and hasn't finished outside of the top five in two seasons of racing. That kind of consistency is invaluable to the Utah ski team. Besides that, she is just a pleasure to have on the team. Veronika always shows up ready to work hard with a smile on her face, and she is a top-notch teammate. This award is hard earned and well deserved. I'm thrilled to hear that Veronika has won this award again."
