The No. 66 Utes won a tightly-contested match against No. 56 Minnesota in a neutral-site matchup by a 4-3 score. After dropping the doubles point, Utah was able to rally back and win four singles matches to claim victory.
"This was a very good team win in Big Ten [Conference] territory over a very experienced Gopher squad," Utah head coach Mat Iandolo said. The No. 3 doubles match was won by Minnesota, but the doubles count was quickly tied up by
Utah's Margo Pletcher and Brianna Turley with a 6-4 win over Paula Rincon-Otero and Annemarie Emme. The doubles point came down to a tie break at the No. 2 doubles position, which Minnesota won 7-6 (7-0). As singles play began, Turley tied the match at 1-1 by defeating Rincon-Otero 6-3, 6-1.
Minnesota came back to win a point at the No. 1 singles position.
Taylor Calton pulled out a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Emme tying up the score at 2-2. Sarah Richter beat Julia Courter 6-4, 6-3 to help the Utes gain the lead, but the match was quickly tied up once again after Jena Cheng lost at the No. 4 position. The match then came down to Lexi Petrovic, who pulled out the victory for the Utes 6-1, 6-4 over Camila Vargas Gomez.
