SEATTLE - It was a disappointing weekend for the Utes as they fall to 1-3 in Pac-12 Conference play and 10-6 on the season. The #65 Washington Huskies defeated the No. 51 Utah Utes 4-0 at Bill Quillian Stadium today.
The Huskies opened up the match with a 1-0 lead after clinching the doubles point. No. 37 Nour Abbes and Miki Kobayahsi defeated sophomore Margo Pletcher and freshmen Brianna Turley 6-0. Tami Grende and Kenadi Hance clinched the doubles point with a 6-1 victory over freshmen Taylor Calton and junior Luisa Gerstner Da Rosa.
Abbes opened up the singles scoring for the Huskies with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Pletcher.
#105 Stacey Fung followed quickly and claiming another point for Washington as she beat senior Sarah Richter 6-1, 6-2.
Grende then clinched the match in a three set battle over sophomore Jena Cheng 6-1, 2-6, 6-3.
The No. 3, 5, and 6 singles matches did not finish.
The Utes look to get back on track in Berkeley, Calif. As they face the #1 team in the country California on Mar. 25 at 1:30 pm.
