Final Results- Barona Collegiate Cup CANBY, Ore. - The Utah men's golf team finished in 14th-place at the Airstream Adventures Northwest Classic after carding a final round 19-over par at the Willamette Valley Country Club. Utah completed the 54-hole tournament with a score of 38-over par (299-296-307=902).
Senior Brandon Kida led Utah after carding a second-round even par and a final round 1-over par to finish in a tie for 27th-place. Kida finished the event with a score of 4-over par (75-72-73=220).
Junior Gentry Hicks and senior Jonathon Thomas finished in a tie for 53rd-place with a score of 11-over par. Hicks (75-76-76=227) carded a final round 4-over par and Thomas (75-70-82=227) carded 10-over par in the final round.
Rounding out team play for Utah, Senior Steven Croft shot a final round 4-over par to finish in a tie for 69th-place with a two-day score of 14-over par (76-78-76=230). Senior Jose Pelayo withdrew from competition during third round action.
UNLV was able to card a final round 8-under par to take home the team title. UNLV finished the 54-hole tournament with a score of 22-under par (280-282-280=842). Oregon finished behind UNLV in second place with a score of 14-under par (279-284-287=850). St. Mary's (+2) finished in third place, followed by East Tennessee State (+3) in fourth place, while Seattle University (+6) rounded out the top-5 teams.
Finishing ahead of the Utes were Missouri- Kansas City (+17), Cal Poly (+18), San Diego (+21), Oregon State (+26), Washington State (+28), Fresno State (+28), Gonzaga (+34), and Wisconsin (+37), while UT-Rio Grande Valley finished behind Utah.
Playing as individuals in the Barona Collegiate Cup, the Ute golfers finished the final round of play on Tuesday in San Diego, Calif. Freshman Nathan Wunderli led the way finishing in a tie for 53rd-place after carding his best round of the event at 4-over par to finish with a three-round score of 17-over par (77-80-76=233).
Freshman Trent Hill shot a final round 8-over par to finish in a tie for 55th-place. Hill ended the event with a score of 18-over par (83-71-80=234). Junior Justin Mortensen finished in a tie for 62nd-place after recording a final round 6-over par to finish at 19-over par (77-80-78=235) on Tuesday.
Senior Brent Pollock carded a final round 8-over par to finish in 69th-place at 22-over par (80-78-80=238). Freshman Drew Grundberg rounded out the individuals in the Barona Collegiate Cup finishing in 79th-place at 49-over par (86-91-88=265).
Utah's next appearance will be at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic on April 4-5 in Scottsdale, Ariz.
