No. 49 Utes defeat Colorado 4-1.
BOULDER, Colo. - The No. 49 Utah Utes defeated the Colorado Buffaloes in Boulder, Colo., on Saturday, 4-1 at The Meadows Swim and Tennis Center.
Colorado started doubles play with a victory at the No. 2 position, but the point was tied up by No. 81 sophomore Margo Pletcher and freshmen Brianna Turley with a 7-5 victory over Nuria Ormeno Ruiz and Daniel Jeannez. The point came down to freshmen Taylor Calton and junior Luisa Gerstner Da Rosa outlasting Alex Aiello and Kyra Wojcik in a tiebreak 7-6 (7-4).
Senior Sarah Richter helped the Utes jump out to a 2-0 lead, defeating Jeannez 6-1, 6-4.
Ormeno Ruiz cut Utah's lead to 2-1, besting Pletcher 6-2, 7-6 (7-4).
Turley went to three sets with Annabelle Andrinopoulos coming out on top 5-7, 7-5, 6-3.
Sophomore Jena Cheng clinched the match and gave the Utes a win by defeating Wojcik in a three set match 6-1, 6-7 (1-7), 6-1.
Utah finished the regular season with a 13-10 record and going 3-7 in Pac-12 Conference play. Next up for the Utes is the Pac-12 Championship.
