Sophomore skier was the 2016 NCAA Champion in the men's giant slalom.
SALT LAKE CITY - Utah sophomore skier Endre Bjertness has selected to the Academic All-America At-Large team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Bjertness won the men's giant slalom national championship at the 2016 NCAA Ski Championships. He also finished 10th in the slalom to earn All-America honors in both events. In 2016 he had three wins, four podium finishes and eight top-10 finishes.
Bjertness is a three-time All-American. He also earned All-America honors in 2015, finishing sixth in the GS.
In the classroom, Bjertness has 3.77 grade point average and is majoring in civil engineering.
Bjertness is the 10th Utah skier to earn Academic All-America honors. The last skier to earn Academic All-America honors was Kristiina Rove (2015) while the last men's skier was Torjus Krogdahl in 2011.
The at-large teams for the Academic All-America program include the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming & diving, tennis and water polo for both men and women, as well as beach volleyball, bowling, crew and field hockey for women, and volleyball and wrestling for men.
