Chirine Njeim Competes in Marathon at Rio Olympics

Finishes 109th and becomes a rare athlete to compete in both the winter and summer games.
RIO DE JANEIRO - Former Utah alpine skier Chirine Njeim finished 109th in the Olympic marathon for Lebanon on Sunday morning in Rio De Janeiro.
Njeim ran a time of 2:51.08 in the race.
A three-time winter Olympian for Lebanon (2002, 2006, 2010), Njeim became the first athlete who has competed in both the winter and summer Olympics to double in alpine skiing and track and field. Through the 2014 Sochi Olympics, only 27 women had competed in both the winter and summer games.
Njeim was a three-time NCAA qualifier at Utah (2007-09), earning All-America honors as a freshman in 2007 in the giant slalom with a sixth-place finish.
