SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah women's ski team led all Ute athletics teams with a 3.763 grade point average during the 2016 fall semester while men's skiing earned a combined 3.335 grade point average.
Not only did the women's ski team GPA lead the department, but it was an all-time high grade point average for the team.
"I am extremely proud of this accomplishment," Utah Director of Skiing
Kevin Sweeney said. "We do our best to absolutely support and stress academics first and foremost. The dedication and focus in this arena continues to be an impressive tradition for the ski team."
Nine women's skiers were named to the Dean's List:
Julie Mohagen,
Abby Ghent,
Roni Remme,
Lauren Samuels,
Anna-Lena Heynen,
Natalia Müller,
Merete Myrseth,
Josefin Nilsson and medical non-counter Nora Eide. The Utes had 12 skiers named to the Athletics Academic Honor Roll, including
Chloe Fausa,
Guro Jordheim and
Leah Lange.
Mohagen, Lange and Eide all had perfect 4.0 grade point averages last semester.
For the men, five athletes were named to the Dean's List:
Endre Bjertness,
Dominic Demschar,
Sam Dupratt,
Martin Bergström and
Logan Diekmann. Six additional athletes were named to the Athletics Academic Honor Roll:
Joergen Brath,
Martin Grasic,
Ty Sprock,
Oscar Ivars,
Martin Mikkelsen and fifth-year Tim Hribar.
Diekmann and Hribar each had a 4.0 grade point average.
To make the Dean's List, a student must have a 3.50 grade point average and at least 12 graded credits. The Athletics Academic Honor Roll requires a 3.00 grade point average.
