Dunkle Leads Utes Into Second Round

LIHU'E, Hawaii - After one round of play at the John A. Burns Collegiate, the Utah men's golf team carded a combined total of 13-over (301) and head into the second round in 15th place at the par-72, 6,991-yard at Wailua golf Course in Lihu'e, Kaua'i.
Virginia tops the field of 18 teams after posting a combined score of 20-under (268) through the first round. Texas A&M (-12, 276), UNLV (-6, 282), Brigham Young (-4, 284) and Santa Clara (-1, 287) round out the top-five teams.
Sophomore Kyler Dunkle led the way for the Utes, shooting 1-over 73 after the first round of play, along with freshman Mitchell Schow, who also carded a first-round score of 1-over par 73. Both players will head into the second round in a tie for 40th-place.
Sophomore Nathan Wunderli shot 5-over 77 in the first round, and currently sits in a tie for 80th-place heading into the second round. Freshman Jordan Costello is in a tie for 91st-place shooting 6-over 78 in the first round, along with Senior Gentry Hicks rounding out Utah's scoring through the first round with an 18-hole score of 6-over 78 sitting in a tie for 91st-place as well, respectively.
Play will resume tomorrow morning with the second-round set to begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. HST (11:30 a.m. MST).
