WOODLAND, Calif. – Eleven Utah track and field athletes were named to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic team for the 2017 women's indoor track and field season.
"As is always the case, our student-athletes take their academics with great seriousness. Awards are not what drive them in this pursuit, but they certainly appreciate the time people take to honor their efforts," head coach Kyle Kepler said. "My staff and I greatly appreciate the efforts of our student-athletes as well as our athletic academic staff who support them on a daily basis."
In order to be eligible to tab All-Academic honors, the student-athlete must have a 3.00 or better cumulative GPA and must have completed one full academic year at the institution prior to the season for which the award is being received. Student-athletes must also have competed in fifty percent or more of the institution's competition.
Earning All-Academic honors from the distance crew were juniors Dakota Grossman, Hannah McInturff, and Jessica Sams, along with sophomore Caitlin Faust. Junior Grace Englund (sprints) and junior Mesa Weidle (long sprints) rounded out the runners for Utah.
In the field events, the jumps crew of redshirt freshmen Suzannah Stark and Ann Wingeleth, along with sophomore Eliza Hansen were also named to the team. The multi events duo of junior Madison Lanford and sophomore Lauren McCluskey rounded out the MPSF All-Academic team for the Utes.
