DES MOINES, Iowa – The Utah track and field team was in action Thursday night at the Drake Relays, competing in the 800-meter run and 4x1600 meter relay. The 108
th Annual Drake Relays are being held at the Drake Stadium and competition will continue Friday and Saturday, April 28-29.

"Both of our girls had PR's in the 800 and really ran great races," head coach
Kyle Kepler said. "Our 4x1600 relay was really solid on the ends. Sadie [Wassum] opened in good position and Amanda [Gehrich] closed it out well."

Sophomore
Caitlin Faust led the way in the 800-meter run, finishing with a personal best time of 2:09.46 to earn a second-place finish. Freshman
Sarah Newton also recorded a personal best time, recording a mark of 2:12.81. Newton finished in 19
th place.

Utah's 4x1600 meter relay team placed seventh overall with a time of 19:45.64. Sophomore
Sadie Wassum opened the relay, junior
Dakota Grossman took the second leg of the race, freshman
Nicole Griffiths ran the third stretch, while freshman
Amanda Gehrich finished the race for Utah.

Utah will be back in action tomorrow at the Drake Relays. Utah will also have a group of Utes, mainly distance runners, competing at Oregon State High Performance in Corvallis, Ore. Several Utes will also be competing locally at the BYU Robison Invitational in Provo, Utah.
