SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah track and field team will host the first day of competition at the Utah/Weber State Spring Classic on Friday, April 7. Field events are scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. MT with the javelin and pole vault at the McCarthey Family Track and Field in Salt Lake City. The track events will begin Friday night at 5 p.m. MT with the women's 4x100 meter relay.

"We are super excited to host this meet. Our kids always enjoying competing at home and this is our only chance to do that throughout the year," head coach
Kyle Kepler said. "You probably won't get to see all of our distance runners because they just ran last weekend, but certainly the middle-distance runners, sprinters, jumpers, and our javelin thrower, Chrissy Glasmann, will be in action. We have a lot of great athletes competing."
Â
Sophomore
Christine Glasmann will begin action on Friday for Utah in the javelin, where she won the event a year ago at the Utah Spring Classic. Glasmann's mark that won the event was the mark that allowed her to get through to the NCAA Preliminary round in the 2016 season.
Â
Admission to the meet is free to all fans. There will also be a kid's race scheduled for 7:25 p.m. MT. A complete schedule of events for the meet can be found in the PDF attached.
Â
The Utah/Weber State Spring Classic will continue on Saturday, April 8, when the Utes head to Ogden, Utah, for the second day of competition that is hosted by Weber State. Events will be held at Stewart Stadium and are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. MT with the hammer throw.
Â
"If you want to come out and watch an action-packed quick track meet, then bring your rubber suits, umbrellas, and slickers because it will be a little bit wet and definitely a bit windy. We will put on the best meet we can and we have an incredible support staff and group of volunteers that are ready to go. I would love to see everybody here at the University of Utah up at the McCarthey Track and Field at least by 5 p.m. when the running events will get started," Kepler said.
