CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Utah baseball team closed out its series against No. 1 Oregon State with a 5-1 loss on Sunday afternoon.

Utah's (12-16, 3-9 Pac-12) lone hit and RBI was recorded by

Josh Lapiana earned the loss on the mound, throwing six innings and allowing five runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and two walks. He falls to 2-4 on the year.
Spencer Kevin Johnson pitched two innings, allowing one hit with two walks and a strikeout.

Utah struck first in the game, taking advantage of a leadoff walk to
Josh Rose in the third inning. He moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from
Chandler Anderson and scored on Keirsey's RBI double.

Oregon State came right back in the bottom of the third with a home run following back-to-back singles, giving the Beavers a 3-0 lead. OSU continued to increase its lead with runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Back-to-back two-out hits added a run in the fourth with a solo home run in the fifth.

Utah stranded two on base in the ninth inning after a pair of walks.

The Utes return home on Thursday, April 13, for a three-game series against California.
