Opening statement:
"Non-conference play comes to an end and we are 3-0 with a short turnaround this week. Friday night we play Arizona so we have to be ready for them. I think we did things better than the last few weeks. We had far fewer penalties. It was not perfect but half of what was happening the other weeks. We still had turnovers in the first half, three is too many for a football game and that is something we need to continue to work on. We were better on third down. Defensively, we played very well except for a few snaps. They got behind us on the long touchdown pass but other than that, we played really well on defense. Our run defense remains stingy and we have been taking the ball away and keeping points off the board, which is the bottom line. Mitch Wishnowsky did a nice job punting the ball and had the improvisation with the left-footed kick. Matt Gay has to be among the leaders in points scored with 17 tonight and 13 last week. He hit two field goals from 50-plus (56, 51). A lot of progress was made and now we go to conference play. We have a chance to take a road trip to Arizona and see where we stack up."
On the running game:
"We ran for more than 100 tonight, but we can still do better. Tyler Huntley was close to 350 passing yards and Darren Carrington II went well over 100 yards receiving. We did things well but in a perfect world we would be running the ball better. We did it better this week than last week."
On needing a third skill player to step forward:
"Raelon Singleton made a great catch in the end zone and made a couple more big plays. The offensive line is coming together as a unit. I do not think we need a third star, we just need to have people progressing."
On starting slowly:
"We scored 30 in the half and they have coaches and scholarship players at San Jose State. The opponents have something to do with that. We did not start slow but we fizzled in the red zone after driving all the way down and settling. There were a few lulls like there are always going to be."
On Devonta'e Henry-Cole:
"I love what he did and we can bring. He has to do his part and have his assignments down pat and once he does that he will play even more."
On what Darren's presence means to Tyler:
"It is huge and it gives Tyler a target and like I say, we have good receivers but with Darren, he has a chemistry. Darren is confident and like I said last week he has a huge catch radius. You throw it within a 12-foot radius and he will catch it. He has made the most of it with a bunch of catches and yards."
On Matt Gay:
"Matt has hit from 60 in practice, and the ball travels differently on a cold night like tonight, so that was at the tip of what I thought. It was debatable to whether we were going to let him try and kick it tonight. I thought he could just reach and he a few feet to spare. When it is hot and the balls flying, he can hit from 60."
 Quarterback Tyler Huntley
On the start of the game:
"We came out slowly and then we got in rhythm. We fixed our mistakes and turned things into points."
On focusing on Darren Carrington II:
"Not really a focus but the key was to spread it around to our playmakers. It just happened to come out that way."
On running so much:
"I was just going through my progressions and trying to make a play with my arm. Sometimes I would take off, but I was just letting the game come to me."
 Defensive Back Boobie Hobbs
On his returns:
"Great blocking. There are 10 other guys out there so I am just reading their blocks. I want to give my offense another chance."
On starting Pac-12 play next week:
"We can get better. I can get better on the defensive side. We are ready though and this could be a great year."
On the secondary:
"I never listen to the talk about inexperience. This is my senior year. Casey Hughes, Kenric Young, Julian Blackmon, they're experienced and we know we are ready."
 Defensive End Bradlee Anae
On how he thought the defense played:
"I felt our defense did well, especially our defensive lineman on pressuring the quarterback. Kylie and I have been hungry to get sacks. It felt good to get those first ones tonight."
On if they are ready for Pac-12 play:
"Right now we are itching to play a Pac-12 team and get it started."
On making plays tonight:
"It's a team sport and our defense is coming hard every play, so I think it had a big part."
 Wide Receiver Darren Carrington II
On what Tyler Huntley can do:
"Reminded me of a quarterback I had in the past, a young one, and I think when it's all said and done, he will be one of the best. He reminds me of Marcus Mariota how he can throw the ball and make people miss when he runs."
On when he knew he and Tyler had a good relationship:
"Ever since I got here. He likes to play and I told him I'd be a big part for him so I try and be an older guy on the field."
On playing well before Pac-12 play:
"I think it is great coming off this win and the last two games. We are making the strides uphill and we will only keep going from here. Once we get to that point, we will be a force to be reckoned with."
San Jose State Head Coach Brent Brennan
On the game:
"Tough game. Utah is better than us. That was obvious. Coach Whittingham and that staff have built an incredible program here. Having played it the last five or seven years at Oregon State and San Jose State, it's impressive how they just continue to put really good football teams on the field that just continue to be outstanding defensively. Tonight, I thought they just did a great job on offense too. Their special teams are always excellent."
"It's disappointing because we didn't play well enough to win. There were some good spots for us I think in the game. But definitely frustrating because we didn't take advantage of some of the opportunities that presented themselves. I thought our defense was playing lights out early on. That gave us some short fields and some opportunities, and we just didn't get anything going offensively. So, back to the drawing board."
If he found a quarterback tonight in Josh Love:
"I don't know, maybe. I thought we found one the previous week too. We have to figure out what the injury situation is and look at the tape and figure it out."
"I thought he did a nice job. I think he hit some big throws, which is exciting to see. Had had some good timing any rhythm at times. Obviously, there were some protection challenges, but that's what Utah does to you. They're so good up front. But I thought our O line for the most part did a nice job keeping him clean. It was good to see Josh stand in there and play, and spread the ball around a little bit. He threw some really nice balls. We dropped a couple that were really well-thrown. So, I'm excited for Josh. I really am because I think he made a statement tonight that he still wants to play."
On the quick scores at the end of the first half:
"It was good to see some energy from the team. That's one thing we didn't do last week. At the end of the first half we were beaten down and we didn't have any of that fight. That showed up at the end of the first half tonight, so I think that's a real positive for us with a young program with lots of young players out there. You're always looking for the highlights and the good moments, and that was definitely one of them. And that was capitalized with that good throw from Josh [Love] to Bailey Gaither."
