Makarewicz and Theriault improve standing in finals
LOS ANGELES - Utah divers capped the first day of the Bruin Invitational with a pair of top-10 finishes in the men's three-meter event.
"We had a solid day and made some good changes in our dives that we had been working on," head coach Richard Marschner said. "It was a tough competition against very good opponents so having four people in the finals was a nice showing."
Freshman Nathan Makarewicz moved up one spot from the prelims to finish sixth overall (597.50) while Daniel Theriault jumped three spots to place seventh (582.05). Jenner Pennock was the third Ute to reach the finals, placing 11th
In the lone women's event, another newcomer, Clare Greenlow, moved up two spots from her placement in the prelims of the one-meter and finished 13th overall (503.95).
Action continues tomorrow at the Spieker Aquatics Center at 10 a.m. PT with the men's platform and women's three-meter events.
