SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah volleyball team earned a sweep over the No. 21 Washington Huskies on Friday, October 26 in the Huntsman Center.

Not only, did the Utes sweep the Huskies in tonight's match, but also swept them in the regular season. It's the first time in program history that Utah has swept Washington.

The entire Utah team played hard, but it was sophomore
Dani Drews that led the way with 15 kills and senior
Lauga Gauta right behind her with 13.

Washington found themselves up 9-4 early in the first, but Utah quickly rallied to tie the score up at 12. The Utes continued their surge at one point winning seven straight points to go up 20-15. The Huskies weren't going to make it easy though as they came back and tied the score at 23, but Utah got kills from Drews and
Kenzie Koerber to grab an early lead.

The Huskies jumped on the Utes in the second set, but Utah never gave up. With the score tied at 17, Washington went ahead 22-17 and eventually was up four leading 23-19. Riding the emotion of the crowd, Utah finished the set on a 7-1 run to win it 26-24 stunning Washington. Koerber had the final two kills of the set to finish off the miraculous comeback.

Utah didn't slow down after the big comeback taking an 8-1 lead early in the third. Eventually, the Utes held a 19-10 lead and went on to close out the match in straight sets. Utah had 21 kills in the final set hitting .293.
It was Utah's Pink Match and the team honored six breast cancer survivors before the match.

Not only did Drews lead the team with 15 kills, but she also hit .308 in the match.

Bailey Choy had 33 assists and helped the team hit .265 in the match.

Utah will be on the road next weekend and begin with Cal on Friday, November 2 at 8 p.m. MT.
