BERKELEY – Utah volleyball dropped a tough one on the road against the California Golden Bears on Friday, November 2.

The Utes had good performances from
Dani Drews,
Kenzie Koerber and
Megan Yett, but still fell in four sets in Haas Pavilion. The three outsides combined for 42 kills and only nine errors.

Drews finished the match with her sixth 20-kill performance of the season with 21 and her 12
th double-double of the season with 13 digs.

Koerber was second on the team with 11 kills and led the team with 5.0 blocks.

After dropping the first set and finding themselves in an early hole in the second, Utah went on a 10-2 run to grab a big 20-14 lead. Cal made a small run, but the Utes closed the set strong out of a timeout winning the final four points to even the match after winning the second set, 25-18.

The Utes held a 17-12 lead in the third, but Cal made a late run coming back to tie the score at 20. After the teams were once again tied at 22, Cal edged ahead 24-22. Utah saved one set point and appeared to save the second and force extra points, but the original call got overturned after a challenge putting them ahead 2-1 in the match.

The home team didn't mess around once it had the momentum as it stormed out to big lead in the fourth and closed things out 25-17.

Yett finished the match with 10 kills and one error hitting .429. She also had 13 digs.

Bailey Choy had her 12
th double-double of the season finishing with 33 assists and 15 digs.

The Utes will stay on the road this weekend and now look ahead to No. 2 Stanford in Palo Alto. First serve is at 3 p.m. MT on Sunday, November 4.
