SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Volleyball finished their home slate strong, earning a five-set win over Arizona, 3-2.
The Utes dropped sets one and four, but came out strong in sets two, three, and five to cement their final win of the year in the Huntsman Center and send seniors
Ella Biggs,
Iliana Linahan,
Leah Wilton-LaBoy, and
Emrie Moea'i out on a high note (19-25, 25-18, 25-21, 31-29, 15-6).
SET ONE
The first set stayed close to start, eventually tying at five before Arizona pulled away, 9-5.
By the middle of the match,
Levani Key-Powell,
Kamryn Gibadlo, and Moea'i all had two kills each as the Utes clawed their way back into the set, 17-11.
Despite Utah's best efforts at a comeback, the Wildcats took set one, 25-19.
SET TWO
Utah struck first to start the second set, but Arizona pushed back going up 4-1 early.
The Utes earned their third ace of the night with Gibadlo at the line that gave them the lead, 8-7 over the Wildcats.
Moea'i and Gibadlo had back-to-back power kills to extend Utah's lead 16-9, eventually finishing set two in victory, 25-18.
SET THREE
Utah wasted little time establishing a lead in set three, jumping ahead 8-4 over Arizona.
The Wildcats got within two halfway through the set before
Isabelle Marco got hot with two aces, propelling the Utes ahead 15-8.
Lana Mijacic blasted a kill to make it a 21-15 set in Utah's favor before the Utes put a bow on it, 25-21 on a Moea'i block.
SET FOUR
A Key-Powell ace and Utah challenge win gave the Utes a comfortable start in set four, 4-1.
Arizona closed in on the Utes midway through the match, 9-8, but a service error gave Utah an easy two-point cushion.
The Wildcats jumped ahead after four ties, 15-14, and built it up to a four-point cushion, but Utah cut that lead down the stretch, 22-20.
Neither side wanted to relent, pushing set four into extra points, but ultimately Arizona pushed set five, 31-29.
SET FIVE
Utah set the tone early in set five, going up 3-1 on Arizona and never looked back, reaching 15 first with the help of Moea'i's second ace of the night to give the Utes the 3-2 match win.
STANDOUT STATS
- Utes Total Stats: 62 kills off 175 total attempts, 10 aces, 58 assists, 11 blocks, 71 digs.
- Gibadlo led the Utes in kills (25) and digs (16) for her 13th double-double of 2025, while also leading the team in aces (3).
- Moea'i finished second in kills (15), and aces (2) while adding five digs and four blocks.
- Mijacic set career-highs in kills (7), attack percentage (.417), digs (5) and added four blocks for good measure.
- Key-Powell and Wilton-LaBoy were second on the team in digs with 12 apiece while Linahan and McKenna Payne each added another eight digs each.
UP NEXT
The Utes hit the road one last time in the 2025 regular season, first making a trip to Provo, Utah to take on No. 25 BYU on Wednesday, Nov. 26 at 6 p.m. MT. Utah then wraps everything up in Lubbock, Texas on Saturday, Nov. 29 at 12 p.m. MT.
Both matches will air on ESPN+.
