STANFORD – Utah volleyball dropped its match against No. 2 Stanford in straight sets on Sunday, November 4 at Maples Pavilion.
Dani Drews led the team with 11 kills hitting .231.
The first set was tight early, but the Cardinal used an 8-0 run to gain a big advantage. After falling down, the Utes couldn't get back in the set as Stanford took the early lead in the match, 25-17.
In the second set, Utah got a kill from
Lauren Sproule to get within one at 11-10. Stanford once again exerted their will and went on a run to take a 16-10 lead. Utah played tough the rest of the set, but the Cardinal took the set to go up 2-0. The Utes hit .360 in the second set with 12 kills and three errors.
With the chance to close things out, Stanford didn't mess around at home to win their 20
th straight.
Bailey Choy led the team in assists and freshman
Megan Yett led the team in digs. Yett also chipped in with seven kills.
The Utes finished with 7.0 blocks compared to Stanford's 6.0.
The Utes have three home matches left in the season beginning with Arizona next weekend on Friday, November 9 at 7 p.m.
