FORT WORTH – Utah Volleyball fell to No. 16 TCU despite career-milestone nights from junior outside hitter
Kamryn Gibadlo (1000 career kills) and senior setter
Leah Wilton-LaBoy (2000 career assists).
Utah kept things close to start, taking a set two win that forced four sets with Horned Frogs, but TCU was relentless in the last two sets, winning the match 3-1 (25-27, 25-22, 25-15, 25-18).
SET ONE
Utah stayed in-step with the Horned Frogs, with TCU taking a narrow lead, 9-7.
TCU and the Utes battled the rest of the set posting 15 ties and six lead changes, but the Horned Frogs eventually took the win, 27-25.
SET TWO
The Utes jumped to a quick lead in the second set, 8-4 over TCU highlighted by Gibadlo's 1000
th career kill.
Utah enjoyed a healthy lead for much of the middle of the set, but the Horned Frogs closed the gap, making it a one-point match down the stretch, 19-18.
The Utes stayed strong despite TCU closing in and finished with a 25-22 set win to even things up.
SET THREE
The Horned Frogs started set three aggressive, jumping to a 4-0 start before
Emrie Moea'i got Utah's first points of the set.
TCU never relinquished the lead, taking set three, 25-15.
SET FOUR
TCU kept the momentum going to start the fourth set, jumping to a 5-2 lead over the Utes. Utah showed some fight on the following play that helped notch Wilton-LaBoy's 2000
th career assist to make it a 5-3 game.
Despite some key plays down the stretch from
McKenna Payne and
Levani Key-Powell, the Utes couldn't dig themselves out of their early hole, and fell to TCU, 25-18.
STANDOUT STATS
- Utes Total Stats: 59 kills off 146 total attempts for a .336 hitting percentage, eight aces, 57 assists, four blocks, 60 digs.
- Gibadlo recorded her 1000th career kill, posting 18 total kills on the night and eight digs.
- Wilton-LaBoy recorded her 2000th career assist, posting 46 total assists on the night while matching her career-high in digs (10) and adding one service ace.
- Key-Powell had a career-high night in kills (17) and attempts (33) while adding an assist and ace, and eight digs.
- Payne set a career-high for aces (2) while adding 10 digs.
- Moea'i led the team in aces (3) and blocks (3) and added nine kills.

The Utes head to Waco, Texas, to face the No. 23 Baylor Bears on Sunday, Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. MT that will be available to view on ESPN2.
