STANFORD, Calif. – Utah Men's Swimming and Diving fell to No. 4 Stanford this evening, 190-105, in the Pac-12 opener for both teams.
The big winner of the evening was
Rodolfo Moreira who captured the 50 free in 20.28. The sophomore from Brazil then teamed with
Clay Stoddard,
Felix Chiun and
Austin Phillips to win the 200 free relay (1:21.20).
Ethan Dillard was another victorious Ute, winning the 200 IM in 1:51.43.
Rahiti De Vos had an impressive showing in the 500 free with a time of 4:31.70, taking second. He then went third in the 200 free (1:41.49)
The Utes had a number of third-place finishers this evening. After a successful relay event, Stoddard swam the 50 free with a time of 20.67 and Chiun went 45.07 in the 100 free.
Daniel McArthur competed in the 100 back with a time of 49.64 and
Chris Taber swam the 200 fly in 1:49.77
In their first collegiate events,
Nick Becker went 9:25.37 in the 1000 free,
Andrew Britton swam the 100 breast in 55.76 and
Tony Puertas clocked in at 50.52 in the 100 fly. Newcomer
Rylan Little was the top diver in both the one-meter (266.55) and three-meter (294.98).
The Utes are back in the pool tomorrow at No. 2 Cal.
