EUGENE – The Utes volleyball team dropped its match at No. 16 Oregon in straight sets in Matthew Knight Arena on Wednesday, November 14.
Freshman
Megan Yett led the team with 14 kills while also having 10 digs.
Dani Drews also had a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs.
Utah earned an early advantage in the first by going on a 3-0 run to go up 11-8. They held that lead and pushed their lead by one to 19-15 forcing Oregon to use a timeout. Oregon went on a 6-1 out of that timeout to take a 21-20 lead. The Utes tied the score back up at 21, but the Ducks kept their run going winning four of the last five points to take the set 25-22.
Utah hit .353 in the first set with Yett and Drews both leading the way with six kills.
Oregon jumped out to a 10-5 lead in the second. Utah used a 5-0 run to take a 16-15 lead, but the Ducks responded with a 4-0 run to take control of the set. They closed things out 25-21 to go up 2-0 in the match.
The Ducks took early control of the third, but Utah hung around. The Utes got within one at 16-15, but Oregon was strong at home and closed out the set 25-20.
The team had 9.0 blocks on the night and
Kennedi Evans led the team with five blocks of her own.
Bailey Choy finished with 25 assists.
Utah will travel to Corvallis, Oregon next to take on the Oregon State Beavers on Friday, November 16 at 8 p.m. MT.
