WEST YELLOWSTONE, Mont. – The Utah ski team competed in West Yellowstone, Mont., with the U.S. Ski and Snowboard SuperTour this weekend with several strong results.
Guro Jordheim finished second overall in the women's 10-km freestyle (28:20.1) and was the top collegiate finisher by nearly a minute.
Leah Lange finished seventh overall and was the second college finisher (29.18.4).
Mariah Bredal placed 13
th overall (fifth college) in 29:42.7 with
Julia Richter 16
th (seventh college) in 29:53.9.
Karianne Moe placed 25
th.
In the ladies sprint race, Utah had the top three collegiate finishers on the day with Richter fifth, Moe sixth and Lange ninth overall. Bredal placed 18
th while Jordheim had an unfortunate mishap, crashing and breaking a pole before placing 26
th.
For the men, the Utes had three of the top four collegiate skiers in the sprint with
Maximilian Bie (who was competing independently) seventh, Noel Keefe eighth, and
Logan Diekmann ninth.
Ola Jordheim finished 25
th with
Bjørn Riksaasen 28
th.
In the men's 15-km freestyle, Riksaasen finished seventh overall and third among college skiers in 38:49.2 while Jordheim was sixth among college skiers (16
th overall) in 39:01.9. Bie finished 19
th in 39:14.6 with Diekmann 24
th and Engström 31
st.
In addition to some of the top skiers in the country, other college teams competing were Colorado, New Mexico and Montana State.
