"Really an outstanding day and couldn't have drawn it up any better," head coach
Kyle Kepler explained. "Super excited, we had a personal record or season's best in every race except for one and it was just an outstanding first day."
In the 60-meter dash, Atisme shined for the Utes as she placed 26th, broke her own school record and recorded a new lifetime best of 7.67. This time tops her previous record by four tenths of a second and moves her into first all-time at Utah in the event. Junior

In the 5,000-meter event, Mercer crossed the line with a time of 16:36.71 and captured a sixth-place finish to earn Utah three team points. With this time, Mercer recorded a new lifetime best by four seconds and moves her into fourth place all-time at Utah in the event.
Moving to the 200-meter race, freshman

This tops her previous record by eight hundredths of a second and moves her into eighth on the all-time top-10 list at Utah. Caitlin Faust, Atisme, senior
Grace Englund, and senior
Hannah McInturff in the distance medley relay. This DMR squad took home seventh place with a season's best time of 11:35.29. This finish earned Utah two more team points.
"McInturff really laid it on the line early in the race and kind of payed the price for it on the back half of the race," Kepler said. "She had dropped back to ninth and in the final homestretch fought her way back to seventh with a huge finishing kick and just doing whatever she could to score some points for the team."
As a team, Utah is currently tied with Long Beach State in 12th place with five points.
Utah will be back in action today starting at 11 a.m. for day two of the MPSF Championships.
