Six more Utes earned new personal records.
Seattle – The Utah track and field team wrapped up day two of competition at the MPSF Championships on Saturday with three top ten finishes and six more personal records. Sophomore Poppy Tank highlighted the day for the Utes with a ninth-place finish in the 3,000-meter race.
"It was just another awesome day today," Utah head coach Kyle Kepler said. "The fight these kids showed this weekend was exactly what our program needed and it's just another great sign for us."
In the 3,000-meter event, Tank finished in ninth place with a time of 9:26.29. This time tops her previous record by 13 seconds and moves her into fifth all-time at Utah in the event. Senior Jessica Sams captured 15th place with a time of 9:41.46, freshman Bella Williams finished in 16th with a time of 9:42.10 and sophomore Trina Moreno crossed the line in 25th place with a time of 9:49.55. Williams and Moreno both recorded new personal bests with their times. Williams topped her previous record by one second while Moreno topped her previous record by 10 seconds.
In the 800-meter run, junior Caitlin Faust led the Utes finishing in 10th place with a time of 2:09.31. With this time Faust has recorded a new personal best topping her previous record by two seconds. Sophomore Sarah Newton captured 12th place and also recorded a new personal-best time of 2:10.30, topping her previous best by one second. Sophomore Melissa Taggart finished in 32nd place with a time of 2:15.84.
Senior Hannah McInturff competed in the mile event for the Utes and captured 26th place with a time of 4:58.79.
In the 4x400 meter relay, the Utes squad of senior Grace Englund, freshman Jackie Martin, Faust, and senior Alissa Atisme finished in seventh place with a time of 3:44.98. This time moves this squad into third place all-time at Utah in the event. With this time, they also scored Utah two more team points.
As a team, Utah finished in 12th place with seven total team points.
