SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah ski team returns to Colorado this weekend for the Denver Invitational. The meet begins on Friday, Feb. 9, with the men's and women's giant slalom. The Nordic teams have their first race on Saturday, Feb. 10, with the classic races while alpine competes in slalom. The meet concludes with the freestyle races on Sunday, Feb. 11.
The alpine teams race at Loveland Ski Area with Nordic at Maloit Park Trails.
In men's Nordic, a Utah skier has won six of the eight races this season.
Martin Bergström leads all RMISA skiers with four victories this year. The reigning NCAA classic and freestyle champion has six podium finishes on the season.
Håkon Hjelstuen has two wins on the season, both in 20-km freestyle races. He has five top five finishes on the year.
Bjørn Riksaasen has been consistent with six-straight top 10 finishes, including one top-five finish, while
Logan Diekmann has four top 10 finishes on the year.
Jacob Engström is coming off his best weekend of the year, finishing 10
th in the classic and 11
th in the freestyle.
Guro Jordheim leads the way in women's Nordic and leads all RMISA skiers in the discipline with three wins this year. She has six podium finishes this season.
Mariah Bredal has been consistent with six top 10 finishes, including a pair of sixth place finishes.
Leah Lange has three top 10 finishes on the year with a season-best finish of seventh.
Karianne Moe's best finish this year is 13
th, done in the 21-km freestyle last weekend.
In women's alpine,
Ann-Kathrin Breuning has five top five finishes, more than any other RMISA women's alpine skier.
Julie Mohagen is coming off her best weekend of the season, finishing sixth and 10
th in the slalom races at New Mexico. She has three total top 10 finishes.
Sabine Krautgasser has finished in the top 15 twice this year.
On the men's alpine side,
Sam Dupratt has one podium finish and three top 10 finishes.
Linus Walch has two top six finishes.
Huston Philp is coming off his best weekend of the year, finishing 13
th and 16
th in the slaloms at New Mexico.
Martin Grasic has three finishes in the top 15 with a season-best finish of ninth and
Ty Sprock has two top 15 finishes.
