LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Utah beach volleyball team will head into its second week of action for 2018, competing in the Long Beach State Tournament, which will take place at the LBSU Sand Courts in Long Beach, Calif.
Â
The Utes are coming off its first completion of the season this past week in Hawaii. Despite going 0-5 in the season-opening tournament, Utah still managed to pick up some momentum and head into this week after having three different pairs collect wins in Honolulu.
Â
Adora Anae and
Dani Barton, along with
Bailey Choy and
Berkeley Oblad, picked up a win each against No. 16-ranked Loyola Marymount last Friday.
Lauga Gauta and
Lauren Sproule then teamed up to defeat LMU in the No. 5 pairing on Saturday.
Â
Utah will play a total of five matches in Long Beach this weekend, opening the tournament on Saturday against Long Beach City College and then taking on tournament host and No. 6-ranked Long Beach State. The Utes then wrap-up Saturday's competition playing CSU Bakersfield. Utah closes out the event taking on LBSU again on Sunday and then rounding out competition against an already familiar opponent in No. 16-ranked LMU.
