BOULDER, Colo. – In their final conference match of the season, the University of Utah women's tennis team was unable to record a victory on the road against Colorado. The Utes fell to the Buffs with a final score of 4-3, and with this loss, they will finish the year with a record of 10-13, going 1-9 in Pac-12 Conference play to end the season.
"I feel we did a solid job of remaining competitive in spite of two season altering injuries to two of our best," said head coach
Mat Iandolo. "I am very proud of how the others stepped up. Ojai is another opportunity for us to grow as a team."
In doubles, the Utes fell behind early to Colorado as the Buffs were able to earn the doubles point. No. 65
Jena Cheng and
Alexia Petrovic were the first to fall on the No. 1 court, as they were defeated by Chloe Hule and Brigitte Beck with a final score of 6-0.
Victoria Robertson and
Brianna Chisholm were then topped by Colorado's Kyra Wojcik and Louise Ronaldson at the No. 3 position, 6-4, giving the Buffs a 1-0 lead.
In singles, the Utes started to ride a comeback started by Chisholm at the No. 2 spot, as she defeated Chloe Hule with a score of 6-2, 6-1, to tie the score at 1-1. Petrovic pitched in a win of her own on the No. 1 court, beating out Linda Huang with a score of 6-2, 6-2, to give the Utes the lead.
Whitney Turley then recorded a victory at the No. 5 position to tie the score up at 3-3 and put the Utes in winning position, defeating Kyra Wojcik in three sets, 2-6, 7-6, 6-3. With the score tied all up, Robertson was unable to record a victory against Brigitte Beck at the No. 5 spot as she fell with a score of 7-5, 6-4, to give the Buffs the 4-3 win.
The Utes will be back in action next week for the start of the Pac-12 Championships in Ojai, California. The tournament is set to start on April 25

th, with competition being an all-day each day.
