LOGAN, Utah –
Sarah Feeny led the Utah cross country team Saturday morning with a first-place finish at the Sagebrush Invitational to open up the 2018 season. As a team, the Utes placed second with two runners finishing in the top 10.
"Solid opener, I'm excited about the progress we've made thus far and we had some new faces out there running cross country for us and they got out to a good start," Utah head coach
Kyle Kepler said.
Feeny finished the five-kilometer course in a time of 18:15.78 to capture a first overall finish. This is Feeny's first race back after recently returning from a two-year LDS mission.
"
Sarah Feeny back off a mission wins her first race back and pretty much dominated the race so that was awesome to see," Kepler stated.

"I thought our kids today really did a great job, looked really good for about the first half maybe sixty percent of the race and we did a couple tough workouts this week and that showed up a little bit," Kepler explained. "But it's that time of the year, we are training through this opening week trying to get better and to be our best at the end."
Utah cross country will be back in action Friday Sept. 7, for the CSI Invitational in Twin Falls, ID.
