TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The Utah women's cross country team took first at the CSI Invitational Friday evening with a total of 28 team points. Freshman
Scarlet Dale led the Utes finishing in second place.
"It was a really hot day about 90 plus degrees and I thought our kids handled it well," Utah head coach
Kyle Kepler said. "We came out of here with a win which was what we were really hoping for."
Dale finished the five-kilometer course in a time of 18:45.98 to lead the Utes to the finish in her first collegiate race. Coming in behind Dale and also competing in their first collegiate race was freshman
Sophie Ryan and redshirt freshman

"
Scarlet Dale was second overall and was in a battle for first the whole way up until the end when a College of Idaho girl just beat her for the win," Kepler said.
Rounding out the top five scorers for the Utes was sophomore
Aubrey Argyle and freshman
Kennedy Powell. Argyle earned seventh with a time of 19:04.03 and Powell placed 10th with a time of 19:15.56. Also competing for the Utes was freshman

"I was very pleased with the effort and I thought we accomplished what we came here to do and that was to run as a group as best as we could on an incredibly hot day," Kepler explained. "We got better today and we are certainly excited about that. We are going to keep focusing on moving forward and making progress in our practices next week."
Utah cross country will be back in action next Saturday Sept. 15, at the BYU Autumn Classic in Provo.
