ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico – The Utah women's track and field team was back in action Saturday at the New Mexico Team Invitational where several Utes earned new personal records and moved into the all-time Utah top-10 lists. Â

"We really had a strong day and overall I think we competed very well," head coach
Kyle Kepler said. "I was very pleased with the performances from today and it was another step forward for our young talented crew of student athletes."Â Â Â

Sophomore
Jackie Martin highlighted the meet for the Utes as she competed in the 400-meter run where she captured first in a personal-best time of 55.82. With this time Martin moved herself into sixth place all-time at Utah in the 400. Also competing was freshmen Maya Lebar and
Lauren O'Banion. Lebar finished in eighth place with a time of 57.68 and O'Banion earned 10th with a time of 58.18.Â

Freshman
Taylor Watson continues her hot streak as she earned a new personal-best time of 24.98 in the 200-meter event. This time moves Watson into third place all-time at Utah in the 200. Senior Raynee Helm Wheelock also earned a new personal record in the 200 finishing in ninth place with a time of 25.58. This time also moves Wheelock into 10th place all-time at Utah.Â

Watson and Wheelock also competed in the 60-meter dash where they both tied their personal-records. Watson finished first for the Utes capturing fourth place in a time of 7.66 and Wheelock earned sixth with a time of 7.79.  Â

Utah had a strong showing in the 600-meter run where they had all three competitors finish inside the top-seven. Freshman
Brooklyn James led the way capturing fourth place in a personal-best time of 1:36.91. Junior
Brooke Martin followed in finishing in fifth place with a personal-best time of 1:37.02 and freshman
Skyler Blair finished in seventh place with a time of 1:41.39.Â

Sophomore
Whitney Hessler recorded a new lifetime best in the 800-meter run today finishing in third place with a time of 2:10.16. This time moved Hessler into eighth place all-time at Utah. Senior
Mesa Weidle also recorded a new lifetime best earning fifth place with a time of 2:16.84.Â

In the 4x400-meter relay, Utah 'A' recorded a new season best time of 3:47.10 and finished in third place. Competing for Utah 'A' was O'Banion, Lebar, Weidle, and J. Martin. Utah 'B' finished in fifth place with a time of 3:55.16. Competing for Utah 'B' was James, B. Martin, Blair, and Hessler.Â

Senior
Eliza Hansen came close to earning a new personal record in the high jump but fell just short recording a jumping height of 1.66-meters (5'5.25"). With this height Hansen finished in fourth place.
The Utes will be back in action next weekend, Feb. 1-2, at the Colorado Indoor Invitational taking place in Boulder, Colorado.Â
