SALT LAKE CITY - Utah Swim and Dive will open the season on Friday with a dual meet against Arizona. Competition begins at 2 p.m. inside the Ute Natatorium.
Warming Up
Utah is coming off a successful campaign in which head coach
Joe Dykstra completed his sixth season with the team. The men's squad finished the season ranked No. 22 in the coaches poll and sent seven student-athletes to the NCAA Championships. Four of them,
Liam O'Haimhirgin,
Rodolfo Moreira,
Andrew Britton and
Tony Chen, return this year.
The women, meanwhile, are coming off a successful campaign of their own. They achieved a national ranking of 36 and put together three dominant showings late in the season against BYU, Oregon State, and Washington State.Â
Last Time Out
The previous matchup between these two schools took place in Tucson two years ago. The men lost 185-77 and the women fell 147-115.Â
The Utes started the meet with the men's 200 medley relay team taking first place, clocking in with a time of 1:28.46.

Sarah Lott won the 100 back with a final time of 55.76 andÂ
Felix Chiun took the 100 free with a time of 44.92.

Emma Broome also contributed to the win total by taking first place in the 100 fly, finishing with a time of 48.23.
On Deck
Both squads head to California with the men competing against UC Santa Barbara and the women taking on No. 25 UCLA next Friday afternoon. The women will also compete at No. 15 USC on Saturday afternoon.
The Utes are back home on Fri., Oct. 25 against Arizona State at 2 p.m.
