SALT LAKE CITY - Utah Swim and Dive lost to No. 16/25 Arizona State in Pac-12 action this afternoon. The men fell 176-122, while the women were defeated 165.5-132.5.
"I think we rebounded nicely after a rough start," head coach
Joe Dykstra said. "I challenged them at the break to improve and credit to the team, they did. We had some hard, close races and that competitive experience will help us moving forward."
In the Pool
The first individual winner of the day was
Sarah Lott in the 100 back. She nearly matched her top time this season (55.02) with a swim of 55.18.
Leyre Casarin captured the 100 free in 51.75,
Audrey Reimer won the 200 back in 2:00.34 and
Charity Pittard was tops in the 200 IM with a time of 2:04.67.
The freshman was also Utah's top swimmer in the 100 ((1:03.90) and 200 breast (2:17.88) placing second in both events. Lott, Casarin, Reimer and
Maddie Woznick capped the festivities with a win in the 400 free (3:26.15).
Woznick also had Utah's top time in the 50 free (23.97), enough for the runner-up spot.
Sara McClendon had the best performances by a Ute in the 500 (5:05.09) and 1000 free (10:14.05) events, while
Emma Lawless was the runner-up in the 100 fly (56.38).
Kyla Yetter took third in the 200 free (1:52.91), with
Christina Pick taking fourth in the 200 fly (2:07.28)

Rahiti De Vos was the top performer for the men's side, winning the 500 free in 4:34.79 and taking second in the 1000 (9:33.71). Other individual winners for Utah included
Andrew Britton in the 100 breast (56.73) and
Brody Lewis in the 200 breast (2:07.45).
Finn O'Haimhirgin,
David Fridlander and
Ben Waterman all had a pair of top times for Utah in their respective events. O'Haimhirgin was the runner-up in the 200 free (1:41.67) and took third in the 100 (45.69). Fridlander took second in the 100 back (49.82) and third in the 200 (1:51.59), and Waterman earned runner-up status in the 100 fly (49.74), while placing third in the 200 (1:52.59).

Jackson Cunningham was Utah's top performer in the 200 IM (1:57.14) and
Cooper DeRyk paced the Utes in the 50 free (20.97). The 200 medley relay of
David Fridlander, DeRyk,
Liam O'Haimhirgin, and Britton finished just six-tenths behind ASU's quartet with a time of 1:30.17.
On the Boards
Freshman
Lizzy DeCecco continued her strong start to the season by winning the 3m with a final score of 294.95, 34 points ahead of the second-place finisher.
Emma Ruchala was second in the 1m for the Utes with a score of 231.83
In the men's 3m,
Luke McDivitt pulled out a huge win for Utah by beating Youssef Selim, the reigning Pac-12 Platform Champion and a member of Egypt's Olympic Team. This marked the first individual win of McDivitt's college career.
Tony Chen took second for Utah in the 1m with a final score of 298.65.
"It is still early, but we are making the progress that we need to," head diving coach
Richard Marschner said, "We are trying to polish things up as we go forward. Luke had a really strong day for us, and he has been putting in the work in practice, so this is a big step for him."
