Women's Tennis Finishes Day Two of Action at Kentucky Invite

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Utah women's tennis team has completed day two of action at the Kentucky Invite, with the Utes picking up three wins in singles and a victory in doubles. Utah took on Penn State in doubles this morning and matched up against Miami University (Ohio) in singles at the Top Seed Tennis Club.
In doubles against Penn State, twin sisters Madeline Lamoreaux and Anya Lamoreaux paired together for the first time as teammates and picked up the sole Utah doubles victory on the day. The Lamoreaux sisters beat out Gabby O'Gorman and Gracey Hirsch with a score of 8-3.
Emily Dush and Lindsay Hung took on Penn State's Olivia Rohrbacher and Frederikke Svarre, falling short 1-8. Katya Hersh and Madison McKay then faced off against Samantha Smith and Sydney Weinberg, as they fell with a score of 3-8.
Following doubles on Saturday morning, the Utes began the second day of singles play. Madeline Lamoreaux picked up a victory for the Utes against Miami's Laura Garcia Rico in a very competitive match. With both sets coming down to the wire, she was able to notch the straight-set win, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (8).
Hersh matched up with Melati Devi and went on to drop the first set 4-6. Then, Hersh bounced back and took the final two sets 7-5, 6-4 to win the match. The final victory of the day for the Utes came from Anya Lamoreaux, as she was able to pick up a dominant victory against Lena Babnuski. Lamoreaux topped Babnuski 6-1, 6-1.
Hung, McKay, and Rich fell short in their singles matches during day two of action against opponents from Miami.
Play at the Kentucky Invite will continue Sunday morning for the Utes, with the final day of action starting at 9 a.m. ET with doubles play. Utah will match up in doubles against Miami (Ohio) tomorrow morning and then play against tournament host Kentucky and West Virginia.
