Utah Football Earns 10th Win Of The Season With 35-7 Victory At Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Utah football team won its seventh game in a row to improve to 10-1 overall and 7-1 in Pac-12 play, coming away with a 35-7 victory over Arizona Saturday night.

It was balanced game on both sides of the ball for the Utes, holding Arizona to just 196 yards (61 rush, 135 pass) of total offense while producing 517 themselves. Utah finished the game with 297 yards rushing, a season-high for the Utes and the most in a game since Utah rushed for 325 against UCLA last season.

Senior Zack Moss accounted for 203 of Utah's 297 rushing yards against the Wildcats, his second career 200-yard rushing game and his 18^th career game with 100+ rushing yards in a game. He finished the game with 26 carries and a touchdown, averaging 7.8 yards per carry, also grabbing four catches for 32 yards.

Moss' 203 yards against the Wildcats gives him 1,158 yards this season, making him the first player in program history to have three, 1,000-yard rushing seasons in a career. His rushing touchdown today also gives him 14 rushing scores this year, one shy of tying the school record for single-season rushing touchdowns.

Tyler Huntley notched his 20^th career 200-yard passing game, going 19-of-23 (82%) with an interception and one passing touchdown. The Utes had eight different players catch at least one pass, led by sophomore tight end Brant Kuithe who recorded four passes for 81 yards, also scoring two rushing touchdowns (2 rush, 9 yds) to give him six total touchdowns this season.

On defense, Francis Bernard led the team in tackles with eight, adding 1.0 tackle for loss while Bradlee Anae racked up seven tackles along with a sack, giving him 28.0 career sacks to rank second all-time in program history. Terrell Burgess added five tackles to lead the secondary, giving Utah a balanced defensive attack throughout the game.

Kuithe got Utah on the scoreboard on its opening drive, an 11-play, 75-yard drive that took 5:56 off the clock to give Utah a 7-0 lead with 7:39 remaining in the first quarter. Kuithe got the Utes in the red zone on a 29-yard reception from Huntley, eventually walking into the end zone for a three-yard rushing touchdown at the end of the drive for his first career rushing score on his second career rush.

Utah's defense continued to command the field, forcing another three-and-out on Arizona's next drive, allowing the Ute's offense to get back to work. Huntley linked up with Kuithe once again for a 22-yard gain and then with Samson Nacua for an 11-yard reception to put the Utes in the red zone.

Huntley finished the drive off with a three-yard pass to Demari Simpkins to give the Utes a 14-0 lead with 37 seconds remaining in the first quarter. It was Simpkins' first receiving touchdown of the season and the fifth of his career, wrapping up a 10-play, 72-yard drive.

The Utes wasted no time in the third quarter, scoring on its first offensive possession on a six-play, 75-yard drive to give them a 21-0 advantage with 12:50 on the clock. Moss accounted for 52 yards on the drive, including his 41-yard rushing touchdown to give him 14 rushing touchdowns this season and 37 in his career.

Kuithe continued his impressive performance with 8:08 remaining in the third quarter, punching in his second rushing touchdown of the game. He finished the six-play, 57-yard drive with a six-yard rushing touchdown, giving him six touchdowns overall this season (2 rush, 4 receive) and the Utes a 28-0 lead.

Utah scored its final touchdown of the game with 12:47 left to play in the fourth quarter with the drive starting on the Arizona 18-yard line thanks to a 39-yard punt return by Simpkins. The Utes four-play, 18-yard scoring drive ended with an exclamation point by TJ Green as he got his first carry of the game, running it in one-yard for his first touchdown of the season and of his career.

Arizona was able to get on the scoreboard with 1:50 remaining in the game, finding the end zone on a seven-yard rush, but the Utes were still able to walk away with the 28-point victory.

Utah will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 30 when they host Colorado for its final regular season game and Senior Day. Utah's game time against the Buffaloes will be announced tomorrow.
